About Me

Born and raised in the province of Groningen (NL), I grew up surrounded by plowed fields, sugar beets and cows. I have been hooked on horses since I was 7.

I was always a crafty kid but I started to make art more regularly when I began university. It became a creative outlet while my wrong choice in studies was draining me.

When I switched to Art History in university, a new world opened. I studied a wide range of periods and perspectives and learned how to observe and interpret art. My development as an artist hugely benefitted from all this.

Painting horses came naturally as they have been a constant in my life. Every day I spend time with my own two horses, Maud and Indy. They keep inspiring me.

Currently I remain faithful to horses as the main subject for my art. When I get an idea I aim to paint quickly in order to let the feeling lead and rule out my rationality.
